A new dentist has lost his battle to get his teeth extracted
A dentist in Fresno, California, has lost a bid to get them extracted from a tooth after he became too sick to practise.
Dr Anthony Moles has been in hospital since February for an infection in his back, which he has now been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, according to a hospital statement.
The dentist has been working on a new treatment for the infection since he returned to work after a three-week break from work.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has confirmed that Moles is one of the more than 600,000 Americans living with a severe or life-threatening infection, which has been linked to a large number of deaths.
Dr Moles’ doctors said that the patient’s symptoms were worsening, but the dentist has now started to recover, according the Fresno Bee.
Dr Mark Moore, a dentist in Los Angeles, told the paper that the dentist was in excellent spirits, and that he was “looking forward to getting to work” again on Thursday.
“He’s doing so well, so the doctors say he will recover in a few days,” Dr Moore said.
Dr Moore said that he hopes the new treatment will “help his patients who need it”.
He added that the new dental treatment could be delivered to a patient in California within two weeks.
