Dentist in Texas, who works with kids, killed in car accident
A dentist in Texas was shot to death in a car accident Wednesday night.
According to police, 48-year-old James Earl King Jr., a licensed dentist in Amarillo, Texas, was traveling to the hospital after a patient called 911 for help.
According, the caller told 911 dispatchers that King was a “dangerous person” and that King had been involved in a “violent altercation” with another man, and that he had shot a woman.
Officers arrived to find King’s body lying in a ditch near the accident site.
Police said they were not investigating whether King was the intended target of the attack.
The shooting happened around 6:45 p.m. on the side of the highway that runs through Amarillos town of El Paso.
The victim’s father told the local ABC affiliate that his son had been shot several times.
The victim’s mother said that her son had a gun and that they were waiting for the officers to arrive to take him to the emergency room.ABC News’ Brian Ross contributed to this report.
