What if you could learn about your own dentist and his or her care through a video game?

Your dentist is out and you are craving to see what he or she’s been up to.
You’ve spent some time at the dentist’s office and now you want to check in on a patient or two.
You click on the little video clip on the side of the computer and are greeted with a video that shows the dentist.
You can see a video of the dentist working, but it doesn’t show any actual teeth or the actual procedures.
It’s all just an animated GIF.
What if instead you could watch a video on your TV and watch the dentist practice a specific procedure on your tooth?
That’s what a new video game called Tusk lets you do.
“We’re building a game where you can see what the dentist is doing in real time,” says Mark Haus, an associate professor of video games at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Haus is the inventor of the game, Tusk.
In Tusk, you can actually see a dentist practice and perform the procedure in real-time, so that you can get an idea of how the dentist will treat you.
It will tell you how the tooth is feeling, whether you have any pain, and how long it’s going to take to fully heal.
“It’s a real-life dental simulation,” says Haus.
The dentist in Tusk will take care of you in real life, but you’ll see it in the game.
“When I say real-world, it’s very real.
The games have been designed from the ground up to show a dentist doing the procedure,” Haus says.
“The simulation will have real teeth and real jaws.
But it will also be realistic.”
The Tusk simulator was created by the University at Buffalo in partnership with the University Hospitals of Buffalo and the University School of Dentistry of the City of New York.
Hau says the Tusk simulation has been tested in hospitals and other locations, and he says it is proving to be a lot of fun.
“This is one of the most popular simulations in our field,” Hau said.
“People are loving it.
It makes them feel like they can go home and get some real time and actually watch a dentist.”
Tusk is currently in development.
Huxley’s The Man in the High Castle and others have already developed their own video game versions of Tusk simulators.
And that’s just one of a growing list of video game simulation programs out there.
In 2017, the game developer Fable creator Andrew Ryan unveiled a simulation of his own death.
And last year, the video game maker Insomniac Games launched an open-source game called Risen, which allows you to play through a series of missions that take you from the beginning of the original Risen to the end of Risen 2.
“There’s a lot more that we could be doing,” Huxleys says.
Hucke said she was inspired to create Tusk after seeing her daughter get a cavity removed using a Tusk video game.
That experience gave her an idea that people could really benefit from having a video-game simulation that could be used in real lives.
“I thought if we can make it happen, people can have a game,” Huckel said.
Haxie Haus has been working on Tusk since 2016.
She says she started to build it after her daughter started playing games that showed her what a dentist did.
“She was very excited about it and would say, ‘This is a dentist, what do I do?’
So she started with her daughter and got her started with some of the mechanics. “
And I said okay, this is the kind of game we’re talking about,” Haxia says.

And Haus was kind enough to let Huchenys share the code that she has created to make Tusk possible.
Huzie Hauns is a student in the Computer Science Department at the UIUC.
Her main interest in video games is using them to help people with specific problems.
“What I’m really interested in is the interaction between games and real life,” Haunsey says.
She is excited that Huxeys is working on the game because it will allow her to explore more and more of the human experience.
Haunses game, for example, will allow players to take a photo and then use the Tawns photo to get a detailed view of the teeth.
And the program will show the results of a tooth extraction on the computer.
