‘Torture-proof’ clipart for dental office: ‘It’s like a painting’
A clipart project by a dentist in the United States has gone viral after it featured a dental clipart with the word “Tortured” on it.
“The story of the clipart is a story of an ordinary person’s pain, suffering, and struggle,” said a description of the artworks on the artist’s Facebook page.
“It is meant to be a metaphor for what it’s like to live in a society that is unjust, abusive, and brutal.”
The artworks are in the works at the University of South Florida.
The clipart depicts a person being tortured.
In one piece, a person’s face is sliced open and his teeth are removed with scissors.
“Taken from my mind’s eye, I see that the person has been tortured for a long time,” said the artist.
The University of Florida has launched a scholarship for the artists.
The artist says he’s inspired by the video game, Assassin’s Creed.
“I think that the game is a great representation of the struggle and pain that our country has experienced,” he told The Hindu.
“You can’t imagine what it is like to be in a situation where you are being tortured and you don’t have any control over it.
It’s so dehumanising and dehumanising.”
The artist told The National Post that he wants to create a story about pain and suffering, rather than one about a fictional character.
“It’s a representation of what it feels like to have an actual experience of being tortured, to have the pain of being a human being,” he said.
“So the idea that I could use a video game to represent that kind of experience, that’s what’s really important to me.”
